Tonight she’ll take my heart home with her
But I’m not ready to let it go now,
Oh how, long have we got?

When I become too
engulfed in
the world
fading in and out
of the macrocosm
and the endless toil
of speech and activity
I become a lost star
folded within itself
like a black hole
infinitely stuck
on repeat.
Words begin to lose their meaning
images no longer are distinct.
The separations that guide us
are no longer there.
I am simple cell
trapped in the
body of the universe.
Like a medieval torture technique
I feel stretched and pulled
till the joints of my mouth
and the limitations of my mind
feel all used up–
My will has outstretched
past the endurance of the intellect.
When I can no longer
feel alone
I become Europa:
The helpless plaything
of Zeus.
(i’m not unfaithful, but i’ll stray.)
Here we go again
gorging ourselves
on some
blonde starlet.
Trickling down our
gullet
is the silver-colored
plasma
of hope
and innocence.
We’ll smile
when
drained and weak
with exhaustion
she stumbles.
Ha!
At least she gets
what she
deserves.
We applaud
the loudest when
the princess
becomes a
monster.

Oh how great is it
to have the
evanescent
molten pleasure
of friendship.
Ideas and poetry
Boiling over
Like soup set at
a temperature too
hot–
Till Time
becomes the greatest enemy
of our youth.
How sweet it is
To speak
Without fear
Of reprobation.
The nectar of souls
is in the lost art
Of fidelity
And conversation.

Words were spoken
like a series of slow bubbles
from flat champagne–
a premature ejaculation for some
colorless celebration.
A fizzle and buzz
That melted into the
Age old looks of dejection
The same unspoken
Lines of envy
(and the same fear of jealousy).
Half sentences were said
Left hanging unfinished
In the balance
Of welcome and
Unwelcome advances.
No one desires a
victory without virtue.
I think it is interesting that what is considered late at night in music is heavily influenced by what genre of music it is:
For example:
Rap/Hip hop: Dawn (see Welcome to Atlanta, and Kesha)
Irish Indie Rock: 4 A.M. (see Flogging Molly songs)
Indie Rock: 2:45 A.M. (see Elliott Smith)
Pop/Country: 2 A.M. (See Anna Nalick)
Then there is Diet Country: 1:15 A.M. This is of course, Lady Antebellum.
But Seriously who actually thinks that 1:15 is late at night? Are they still in high school?
This has been a segment I like to call: David’s random observations….
What it means to be human:
To be able to sing in public without fear.
Seduction is just a slower form of rape.
Seduction is a systematic way to make another person become vulnerable enough that you can make them give into your desires, and trick them into thinking that it is what they want.
Yet, we almost all want to seduce and be seduced.
We are strange creatures.
To begin a new.
The Nouveau
a shameless self promotion
of newness
and an awkward
rebranding of yesterday.
Yet, here I go again.
Stirring the stale
yet still somehow
soggy cereal
hoping that another
swirl or two
will transform
what has already been spoken
into a rara avis.
With the ridiculousness
of a bourgeois
malcontent
I keep on returning to
the poisoned well.
So drink deeply, my loves.
This is what keeps the world turning.
This is what turns the day into night.
A smile.
I am the willing sacrifice.
